Builders/PTA

The name of Legacy Preparatory Academy's parent volunteer organization is the Builders. The word ‘build’ means to establish, increase, or strengthen, LPA Builders work together to build a legacy of academic and educational experience for their children. Builders also strive to build each child's self-esteem, confidence and school spirit. Every parent or guardian with a child enrolled at LPA is a Builder! We are all responsible for the success and positive environment for our children and their school.

LPA Volunteer Expectations and Requirements

Each family is expected to donate 40 hours of volunteer service to the school (preferably, 20 hours per parent); 20 hours for single parent families. Hours can be purchased for $10.00 an hour payable to the school. Individuals interested in volunteering should contact a member of the Builders Leadership Committee.

Logging Hours- LPA uses an SIS system to track volunteer hours. It is the responsibility of each family to track and report their hours accurately. See the LPA website for instructions. Student relatives including grandparents, aunts, uncles and older siblings are welcome to volunteer. Individuals may not volunteer if they have been convicted of a violent crime, sex offense, theft, or crime against children.

I saw them tearing a building down
A gang of men in a busy town,
With a yo heave ho and lusty yell,
They swung a beam and a sidewall fell.
And I said to the foreman, if these men were as skilled
As those he would hire if he were to build?"
And he laughed and said, "Oh no, indeed...
Common labor is all I need...
For they can wreck in a day or two
What builders have taken years to do."
So I asked myself, as I went my way...
Which of these roles am I to play?
Am I the builder, who works with care
Measuring life by the rule and square;
Or am I the wrecker who walks the town,
Content in the role of tearing down?
