
LPA H1N1 Preparation and Action Plan
LPA’s front office will:

- Keep sick children in nursing area away from others
- Keep and use a thermometer for taking children’s
temperatures
- Have parents pick up sick children from school immediately
(not at the end of the day)
- Remind parents, when they come to pick up ill students or
when they report by phone that student is absent due to illness, to not
bring students back to school until children have been free of fever
without medication for 24 hours.
LPA’s administration and faculty will:
- Make sure teachers and other school staff know to remain
home if they are sick
- Provide hand washing lessons and give time to wash hands
frequently
- Provide hand sanitizer and encourage students to use it
- Make sure to work with students who are absent due to
illness
- Make sure teachers have substitute plans ready including
any healthcare information about their students.
- Make sure parents know, through newsletters, etc., not to
bring sick children to school and to wait to bring children back to
school until after they have been free of fever without medication for 24
hours.
- Make sure that parents of children who may be more
susceptible to illness are informed of any patterns of illness that may
put their children at greater risk.
In the case of a long term school closure due to pandemic
flu or any other reason, LPA will take the following actions. These actions
will be used on a smaller scale for individual students who are absent for
extended periods of time due to illness.
Notification:
- The school’s director and front office, through
communication with state and/or local authorities, will determine when
this plan will be implemented.
- If this occurs during the school day, parents will be
notified via email and phone call to pick up their child up from school. If
possible, students will take all school text books with them in order to
complete assignments at home.
- If this occurs after school hours, parents will be
notified via email and phone by their classroom teacher prior to 8:00 a.m. the day of closure.
- The school director will arrange a time for students to
pick up necessary text books from the school.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:
Preparation:
- Teachers will have approximately 2 weeks of instruction
planned and ready to implement.
- To prepare materials for students, homeroom teachers will
put 2 completely planned weeks of Learning Plans on the absent students’
desks.
Home room teacher with also include
CK AllYour Child Needs To Know books, History and Science packets, and
Rocket Math packets in the take home pile on each student’s desk. Group
teachers will visit each homeroom classroom and put either the math or reading
book and workbooks on each pile and fill out the learning plan where
appropriate.
- Parents and students will pick up materials at assigned
times.
- All teachers and instructors will keep assignments current
on RenWeb.
- Parents will have internet connection in order to access
RenWeb.
- Students will have all necessary school books and
resources at homes.
- In addition to RenWeb updates, parents may follow lesson
plan on LPs.
- Students will be expected to complete assignments.
- Teachers will be expected to remain in email contact with
students and parents.
- If closure lasts longer than 4 days, administration and
faculty will arrange times for parents to bring homework to the school so
teachers can provide feedback and direction via email.
SECONDARY SCHOOL
Preparation:
- Teachers will have approximately 2 weeks of instruction
planned and ready to implement.
- To prepare materials for students, homeroom teachers will
put 2 completely planned weeks of Learning Plans on the absent students’
desks.
- Parents and students will pick up materials at assigned
times.
- All teachers and instructors will keep assignments current
on RenWeb.
- Parents will have internet connection in order to access
RenWeb.
- Students will have all necessary school books and
resources at homes.
- In addition to RenWeb updates, parents may follow lesson
plan on LPs.
- Students will be expected to complete assignments.
- Teachers will be expected to remain in email contact with
students and parents.
- If closure lasts longer than 4 days, administration and
faculty will arrange times for parents to bring homework to the school so
teachers can provide feedback and direction via email.
- If the closure is beyond two weeks net books or laptops
will be used to connect students to staff for lectures and lessons during
the day.
ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS:
Return to school:
- The school’s director and front office, in conversations
with state and/or local authorities will determine when students and
teachers will return to school.
- The school building will be cleaned during the closure to
ensure the health of our students and staff.
- Only healthy students and staff members, those who do not
have any of the known symptoms, will be allowed back to school.
- Teachers, staff members and students will be notified via
email or phone call of the date and time school will resume on campus.
