We are looking for part-time instructors in our Special Education department for the upcoming school year.

34 hours per week.

Essential Job Functions

*This particular job primarily focuses on supporting students in our self-contained SpEd class

*Carry out instructional activities assigned by the teacher

*Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing student goals and objectives

*Implements, under the supervision of an assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g. reading, math, writing, social skills, daily living skills, fine motor skills, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts, and record instructional and behavioral data as predetermined by the teacher

*Communicate regularly with the teacher concerning student progress

*Implement both individual and classroom-wide behavior management plans

*Provide assistance to students with personal care, eating, dressing, and toileting needs, as necessary and determined by the teacher

*Provide support, assistance, and modifications to students in general education and special education settings, as defined by special and general education teachers

*Assist the teacher with daily and weekly lesson plans, daily data collection, and IEP development

*Documents student’s daily activities (e.g. behavior, completed assignments, on/off task times, etc.) for the purpose of completing daily logs and student’s hourly activities

*Assist the teacher in obtaining, constructing, and developing materials
Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director or supervising teacher

Requirements
Job Qualifications :
-Highly qualified candidates will have either two years of college (48 semester hours) or be able to pass the state paraprofessional exam for qualification.
-Willingness to learn and teach curriculum established at school.

-Candidates with an understanding of the developmental process and learning styles for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, other behavior disorders, or experience in teaching and classroom management are preferred, but training in specific job requirements will be provided.
