School dismissal/ Soft closure

**UPDATE March 15, 2020**

At 4:00 PM on Friday, Governor Herbert and State Superintendent Dickson announced that all Utah schools will be closed for a 2-week period starting Monday, March 16th.

This is not a holiday. Rather, the purpose of this “soft closure” is to eliminate large gatherings and limit close proximity in order to slow the spread of the corona virus.

Legacy’s plans for the coming week are as follows:

  • Monday, March 16, faculty and staff will finalize plans to provide distance learning. Families will receive communication from teachers to let them know what to expect in their classes. Only faculty and staff will be allowed in the buildings on this day.
  • Tuesday, March 17, families will have access to the school to pick up any personal belongings and also meet with teachers if needed based on the information they receive from the teachers. Details on how this will work to follow.
  • Wednesday, March 18, the building will be closed and online learning will commence.

Students on individualized education plans will be contacted as to how we will continue to address their service needs.

The State will later determine whether this two-week closure will be extended. In any case, Legacy’s Spring Break will commence as scheduled on March 30th and run through April 3.  Please watch for communication between now and then whether school will resume after spring break.

This is an evolving situation which will require us to be creative, flexible, and evolve with changing circumstances. Please expect to receive frequent, possibly daily, changes and updates.

Sincerely,

LPA Administration
