Halloween Costume Parade and Costume Expectations

As Halloween approaches, we are excited to announce that our school will be hosting a short Halloween Costume Parade. The Halloween Costume Parade will occur on Tuesday, October 31st at 8:15 a.m. Students are encouraged to wear their costumes to school on this day. Parents, guardians, and family members are welcome to attend and watch the parade.

 

Costume Expectations

We want all students to have a fantastic time while ensuring that costumes are appropriate for the school setting. Please keep the following guidelines in mind when choosing or assisting your child with their costume:

 

  1. No Violent or Graphic Costumes: Costumes should not depict violence, gore, or graphic content. We want to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all students.

 

  1. No Weapons: Please ensure that costumes do not include any weapons or items that could be mistaken for weapons. Safety is our top priority.

 

  1. Cultural Sensitivity: Be respectful and culturally sensitive when choosing costumes. Avoid stereotypes and cultural appropriation. Nothing offensive or inappropriate to the Legacy Prep Code of Conduct

 

  1. Comfortable and Safe: Costumes should be comfortable to wear throughout the school day and should not obstruct vision or mobility (i.e. bathrooms, recess, physical activity, lunch, etc). A blow-up costume can be worn during the parade but must be removed for the remainder of the school day.

 

  1. No Masks: Masks should not be worn at school.

 

  1. Keep it Age-Appropriate: Ensure that your child's costumes are school-appropriate.

 

  1. No Disruptive Elements: Costumes should not include elements that could disrupt the learning environment, such as excessive noise or flashing lights.

 

Accessories such as wigs, hats, and makeup should be securely attached to prevent them from getting lost or causing disruptions during the school day. In addition, all costume preparations must take place at home, including hair color and face makeup. Students will not be given time to “get into costume” at school.

We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that our Halloween celebrations remain a positive and inclusive experience for all students. We can't wait to see the creative and imaginative costumes our students come up with for this year's Halloween celebrations!
