Teacher/Educator Licensing

Educators employed by charter schools have the same teacher licensure requirements as traditional public schools. Utah provides several different ways a person may become a licensed teacher. If you would like to know the qualifications of your child’s teacher, please contact the elementary or middle school principals (information below.)

Legacy Preparatory Academy employs teachers who have an Associate License, Professional License, and an LEA-Specific educator license.

Percentages of teachers at LPA with each license:

  • Professional: 67.7%
The educator has completed an educator preparation program that includes content and pedagogical knowledge.  This program may have been completed at a university or in an alternate pathway that was supported by school districts/charters and the Utah State Board of Education.
  • Associate: 16.58%
The educator is currently completing an educator preparation program but has not yet completed all requirements for a Professional Educator License, license area, or endorsement. The educator is enrolled in a university-based or Local Education Agency (LEA) based program.  When the educator completes the program, they will have a professional level.
  • LEA Specific: 12.55%
The educator has not completed an educator preparation and is not currently enrolled in one. The LEA Specific License is available for all license areas and the LEA can specify the length for up to three years.
  • Non Licensed: 3.17%
